An Indian Fashion label, a Dutch model, an American Photographer, and a German production assistant – a very international set-up for our Indian Fashion Shoot in October 2015.

When Julia from the Indian clothing label Julia&Sita contacted us about a fashion shoot in Amsterdam for her new designs, we felt very honored. Julia flew all the way from India to Amsterdam for an on-location photoshoot with us. She brought three outfits with her for our Dutch model Laura from Innocence Model Agency.

The first outfit we shot was a blue skirt with an orange/coral blouse. Our model Laura was very brave and resisted the cold. She even suggested a few of her ideas and made it easy to take good shots. For the perfect lighting, we used off-camera flash on a tripod inside an octa softbox. The sky was very cloudy, which resulted in unflattering shadows underneath the eyes and nose of our model. We solved this problem with a full-body reflector.

Next up was a light blue, almost white, tunic with beads on the upper right-hand side. While the first outfit was shot in front of a garage door, this outfit was shot in a backyard in Amsterdam Noord. The berries of the tree above her head were a great contrast to the green background and the dress.

The last outfit designer Julia chose for us to photograph was a long green dress with a slit on the side, which provided a view of the leg as well as the red inside of the dress. To pick up the red color of the dress’ inside Julia had ordered an organic crown of red berries at the florist. The berry crown and the beautiful backyard we shot in gave this outfit a high fashion but also kind of enchanted look. Who knew Indian fashion could be so diverse?
