Doing some lighting and studio model test shots for the January workshop.

Halloween 2011- White Swan – Black Swan

It’s hard to decide which is more fun, getting ready for the party or the party itself. What a great Halloween!
Recent Shoot with Kate Berger
It was great to work with fellow New Yorker, Kate Berger who started “The Expat Kids Club”. www.expatkidsclub.com a practice aimed at helping expats kids with some of the challenges of living abroad. What a fun shoot! *Nicole Pitton on lighting.

The Long Awaited MAGIC HOUR SHOOT
I wanted to do a “Magic Hour” shoot with one of my photo classes. It was difficult to schedule as a result of the season and weather but the opportunity finally arrived. With the amazing light from the setting sun, a reflector and new techniques fresh in the mind, we set out for our shoot. Below are some of the results from photographers Jared Cameron and Katja Hoppe. Model was Sean Alter and I was acting as photo-assistant

Off of Nassaukade

I took this last night for a photo contest which requires you to take a photo of something exactly 10 minutes away from your house.
Blind Experiment

Armed with a bag of props including sunglasses, a hat and some other things I found laying around the house, I attended “MixTup Market Three” with a goal. To take photos of people based on Ok Cupid’s research listed in the article “don’t be ugly on accident”
http://blog.okcupid.com/index.php/dont-be-ugly-by-accident/
Ok Cupid conducted research and concluded that images with low quality light and images taken with a low quality camera (ie. cell phone photos) actually cause people to be perceived less attractive. The article also listed qualities that cause people to be perceived as more attractive like shallow depth of field and natural lighting. So, I took out my SLR, and set out to experiment with these findings to make my MixTup Market Victims look their best.
